대체투자 분야는 지속적으로 성장하여 글로벌 금융 산업의 중요한 하나의 축으로 자리 잡고 있지만 글로벌 시장에 넘쳐 나는 정보의 홍수 속에서 시의 적절하고 가치 있는 정보를 발굴하고 의사 결정에 반영하는 것은 어렵습니다.
한국대체투자연구원은 글로벌 금융 산업의 새로운 패러다임에 부응할 수 있는 질적 성장을 도모하고자 2014년에 창립된 대체투자전문 연구기관입니다. 프라이빗에쿼티, 부동산, 인프라, 원자재, 헤지 펀드 등 대체투자 분야 전반에 걸친 국내 최초 씽크탱크(Think-Tank)로서의 역할을 목표로 하며, 전문성을 가진 교수진과 학생, 실무자, 컨설턴트 등과의 협업을 통해 산업전반에 걸친 다양한 주제를 발굴하고 토론하며 연구하여 투자기관의 담당자를 포함한 업계 담당자들이 글로벌 시장에서 통찰력 있는 의사 결정을 할 수 있도록 지원하는데 그 목적을 두고 있습니다. 

Sam Y. Chung(정삼영), Ph.D.

President of KAIRI

Sam Chung is a Professor of Finance at Yonsei University's Graduate School of Information in Seoul, Korea, where he has launched a graduate degree program in 'Artificial Intelligence & Alternative Investment' for industry professionals in the country. Prior to joining Yonsei University, he spent nearly two decades at Long Island University in NY, US as a Professor of Finance (tenured since 2005). He had also served in the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association as an Academic Advisor, the Center for International Securities and Derivatives Markets (CISDM) at the University of Massachusetts as a senior research associate, and the Journal of Alternative Investments as an Editorial Board Member. 

Dr. Chung has advised AIF Global (www.aifglobal.org) for many years and is currently taking a leadership role as the head of AIF APAC. He also founded the Korea Alternative Investment Research Institute (KAIRI) in 2013 and partnered with the Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA) to research alternative investment asset classes and to educate both public and private investors. Dr Chung has been a member of the Investment Policy Committee of NPS and, the Investment Committee of Korea-Post. He has also advised the Korea Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Services regarding the Nation's Alternative Investments regulatory policies. Dr. Chung received a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, M.S. from Boston College, and MBA from Illinois State University.
